Biography

Olivier Hermine received his MD in 1992, held a post doctoral position at the university of Chicago (1987-1990) and his PhD in 1995, and is Professor of Hematology since 1999 at Paris Descartes University, Paris, France, and holds a number of positions at the Hôpital universitaire Necker-Enfants malades, also in Paris, including Director of the Department of Adult Haematology, member of the scientific and executive board of the Institute of Genetic Diseases (Imagine), Coordinator and Founder of the National Reference Centre for Mastocytosis (CEREMAST), and Director of the CNRS ERL 8254/ Paris Descartes University/INSERM U1163 research unit “Cellular and molecular basis of haematological disorders :Therapeutic implications” at the Imagine institute. Professor Hermine is Founder and Coordinator of the Laboratory of Excellence on Red Cells (GR-ex), which has been granted by the French Ministry of Research. Since 2015, he is director of the scientific committee of the National transfusion institute (INTS). He co-founded and is director of the scientific committee of the biotechnologies AB science specialized in tyrosine kinases development and Inatherys specialized in the development of antibodies against IgA receptors including transferin receptor. His topics of basic science and clinical research cover erythropoiesis regulation and erythroid disorders, immune regulation, mast cell and mastocytosis, viral lymphomagenesis, and leukaemogenesis. As an active member of both the Lymphoma Study Association (LYSA) and the European Mantle Cell Lymphoma Network (EMCL), the European Bone marrow transplantation (EBMT), the European Network on mastocytosis, and international retrovirology study group, Professor Hermine is also particularly involved in clinical and translational studies on mantle cell lymphoma, mastocytosis and virus-related lymphoma. He is the author or co-author of more than 590 publications in peer-reviewed journals, including Nature, Nature Medicine, Nature Immunology, the Journal of Experimental Medicine, the New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet Oncology, the Journal of Clinical Oncology, and Blood.
