Blood transfusion
Blood transfusion is the process of receiving the blood into one’s intravenous circulation also called transfusion medicine. Sometimes the whole blood is not collected if it is not required as some may be in need of only RBCs or WBCs or only platelet. Before receiving the blood from a donor various steps are undertaken in order to ensure the quality, compatibility and safety of the blood. And there is an eligibility criterion for collecting the blood or its components. Whole blood is collected for every 56 days, platelets for every 7 days for plasma it is 28 days. The donor must be sound.
